I am a mobile computer technician living on the South Coast of New South Wales. This is a blog about the day to day work of repairs, upgrades, and building computers. I am also a programmer and build websites. I have been dealing with the things for over 30 years but there is still something new every day

Computer Freezes or Crashes when playing Facebook games or Playing You Tube Videos
A clients computer kept freezing when playing facebook games. When I realised that these games used flash I realised that I had seen something similar with Youtube videos on some computers. The problem is when flash is setup to use hardware acceleration. This is not compatible with some graphics cards. this can sometimes be solved with using the latest version of flash and updating the graphics drivers to the latest version. If this still doesn't work you can right click on the game/video which brings up the flash context menu. Select settings and the following screen will appear. Deselect the tick next to "Enable Hardware acceleration" which should stop the crashing.
Note that with most modern computers there will not be any noticable reduction in performance.
